Debut and victory for Solaris Motorsport in the Italian GT Championship
Monza, Italy – Solaris Motorsport’s GT debut ended with a dominant win in Monza. The Italian team raced the last Italian GT Championship round with a SaReNi Camaro GT3, getting an historical and brilliant victory in the temple of speed, the first in Europe for the American muscle car, thanks to Francesco Sini and Tomas Enge talent.
Landed in Italy to achknowledge, the Solaris Motorsport engineers lived an ever-growing week end, being always between the best of the class. The black Camaro GT3 setted two Top6s and got a fourth and a fantastic first row during the two qualifying sessions.
The 2014 EuroV8 Series Champion Francesco Sini, after a good start in Race 1, was able to do a comeback during his driving stint, improving lap by lap his feeling with the car and his lap times. When the drivers swept, Tomas Enge took the wheel of black SaReNi Camaro and, after the tyre pressure was settled and with a even more lighter car lap by lap, he scored an huge comeback until the final fifth position. A result could have been better without an incorrect book rules interpretation that slowed the strong fast Czech driver.
But the best was yet to come at home Solaris. On Sunday’s race, Tomas Enge made a perfect start from the second spot on the grid and, after a tough contact with Bortolotti’s Lamborghini, went fiery on top of standings. Despite the huge damages on the front right wheel rim, the Czech driver led the Camaro to the drivers change on first position with a big advantage from all the opponents. Sini was given the hard task to bring the American car under the checked flag, being careful to not push too hard and not make mistakes, to avoid a big fail. Thanks to the intelligent ride of the Italian driver, the Camaro was first on the finish line, getting the historical win for the American muscle car in an European GT championship.
“I’m really happy! We can’t have a better debut! – commented a shining Francesco Sini – Tomas was fantastic, thanks his stint I could manage the gap from the opponents in my ride. From the box they kept to tell me to slow down, to make attention to kerbs and the brakes, because the rim damage was getting worse. I’m very satisfied about my racing weekend, I improved my feeling with the car constantly and, without the wheel damage, I could show it to all. i won the Euro V8 Series title this year and I took my first victory in GT at debut, I couldn’t ask nothing more to this season!”
