First season test with GT3 Corvette for Solaris Motorsport in Adria
Pescara – Solaris Motorsport did an important test session in Adria on February 8th. It was new year’s first test session for the Italian team, focused on learning and taking confidence with the Chevrolet Corvette Z06R, the new weapon of the Notaresco-based team for GT championships. Francesco Sini was at the wheel of the American coupè and drove the car on the Italian track with a real good pace, setting great times without mechanical problems.
More than 40 laps completed by Corvette Z06R, which has been running all day long – characterized by an extremely cold temperature near 0° – without inconvenients, coming back home with the satisfactory result of setting its best time close to the GT3 track record. A very happy Francesco Sini, EuroV8 Series reigning champion, has had the possibility of testing for the fist time the potential of his new ‘weapon’: “What a debut! I’m really satisfied, the car is way quicker than I had expected and, especially, it’s really easy to bring it to the edge. In GT races, where the race pace is fundamental, it’s a very important quality” commented an hopeful Francesco Sini after the test. “I drove and won with all Chevrolet branded cars, from Lumina to Camaro and its SaReNi GT3 version; now I want to do the same with the Corvette!”
Yet to be decided the driver who will share the Z06R cockpit with Sini: “I hope to know the name of my teammate in a few days, so that we can start to work on the season early in order to try to catch the important goals we want to reach this year. We have 2 months of hard work ahead, we will concentrate on every detail in order to be ready for the first race, from the single lap performance to the full-race pace, as well as the pit stops. I want my team ready for the beginning of the season! Callaway Cars and us, together with all the Corvette Motorsport guys, have great expectations this year and we will do all we can not to disappoint anyone“.
Roberto Sini, Solaris Motorsport team principal, is looking forward with a renewed conviction after the positive day of testing: “I’m very satisfied with the session in Adria, not only for the surprising performance shown by Corvette, but especially for the reliability of the car: zero problems in the entire day! The good performance of Francesco, then, gives us great confidence and determination for the future“.
Solaris Motorsport will be back on track at the end of February, with a new test session scheduled on the track of Vallelunga.
