Second test for the Solaris Motorsport GT3 Corvette, Costantini will take the wheel
Pescara, Italy – After a positive debut in Adria, next week Solaris Motorsport will be on track again with the Chevrolet Corvette Z06R for a two-day test session at Vallelunga.
The good feelings and the fast times that came out from the last test on the twisty track in the North of Italy will need to be reflected now on the fast circuit located near Rome, where on February 24th and 25th, Solaris Motorsport engineers will test new setup solutions for high speed tracks. “I’m excited, I want to be on track as soon I can – commented Francesco Sini, driver – We left Adria very happy and really confident about our potential. I’m curious about the feeling with the Corvette on a very different circuit and how the behaviour of the car will change with the setup we want to try.”
During the two days of testing at Vallelunga, Solaris Motorsport will try also the two different tyres used in International GT Open and in the Italian GT Championship. Therefore the #12 Corvette will lap with Michelin and Pirelli tyres and at the end the engineers will be able to compare the data. “We want to know the performance difference between the two compounds in order to be ready for everything that can happen – said Roberto Sini, Solaris Motorsport team principal – We have to know how is the car at race pace, how much is the tyre degradation and how it influences the car’s performances. We want to find a good setup base to start with the experiments.”
Stefano Costantini will drive the Corvette Z06R during the test session. It will be the first time for him with the american coupè. Two-time Castrol Seat Leon Supercopa runner-up and Porsche Carrera Cup Italia championship protagonist, Costantini raced in the International GT Open during the last two years, obtaining a win and a lot of class and overall podiums in 2014. In october, the Italian driver also won his first race of the Italian GT championship on the last event in Monza, when he climbed the first step of the podium after Race 1 on Saturday, while the Sunday race was won by Francesco Sini and Tomas Enge with the SaReni Camaro managed by Solaris Motorsport, on the team’s debut in GT races.
Both on February 24th and 25th, the entrance at Vallenga will be totally free.
