Solaris Motorsport aims to maintain Sini’s leadership in the championship. Schiattarella returns.

Pescara – After winning in Vallelunga and taking the lead in the Drivers standings, this week Solaris Motorsport moves to the Mugello Circuit for the 3rd round of the EuroV8 Series. Just like in Monza, in Tuscany the Italian team lines up two Chevrolets: the Camaro for the championship leader Sini and the Lumina for Domenico Schiattarella, in which the former F1 driver gained two podium finishes in the season opener. The team’s goal is to continue the positive trend of the first 2014 races, on the track where “Ringhio” Sini scored the first victory for Solaris Motorsport in a V8 series at the end of an epic battle with Stefano Gabellini.

For the first time we arrive at a track leading the championship. We are very proud but at the same time we can’t stop focusing. Our opponents are very strong, it will be hard to remain on top! I like very much the Mugello Circuit, I’m the last driver who took a win here in Superstars. I want replicate it! I’ll have Schiattarella as my teammate too, I’m sure he will fight with me for the podium positions like we did in Monza. He gives a strong boost to the team!” said Sini. Thanks to a Camaro that is very fast at every track this year, the Italian driver comes to Tuscany as the standings leader with all the intentions to do his best and to stay on top.

Former F1 driver Domenico Schiattarella will come back on the Lumina for this race. Two podiums in the season debut make Mimmo very confident for the races, since he knows well the pace of the car and what it can do in Mugello: “I’m excited to be here again. I want to thank the team for this new opportunity and I want to repay them the same way I did in Monza! The Lumina will be just a bit lighter than our opponents and this can be a little advantage. We also have a great engine for the long main straight, very useful in case of a battle! By the way, the Lumina was the last car winning a V8 race in Mugello… traditions must be respected!

Galvanized by the excellent results gained on the track, with 4 podiums in 4 races, Solaris engineers continued to refine both cars in the short time between Vallelunga and Mugello. This year the goal is very important and nothing can be taken for granted. Sini’s Camaro will have the same configuration it had in Vallelunga, only 10 kilos more on weight due to race results, while the Lumina will benefit from 30 kilos less than in Monza. Roberto Sini, Solaris Team Principal, motivates the team: “The guys at home continued to improve both cars in this 10 days, optimizing our package every day more. We want to keep our positive trend and in Mugello we’ll have Mimmo’s support to fight for the Team standings. Unfortunately, we can’t constantly field the Lumina due to global economic situation and we must work on it race by race. Our hope is to see it again on top in Mugello to help us to line-up the Lumina in all the races for the rest of the season!”

The Mugello EuroV8 Series round will start on Saturday, May 17th, with two free practice sessions scheduled at 10:35 AM and 1:55 PM, while in the afternoon, at 5:40 PM, there will be the qualifying session. The two races are scheduled for Sunday, May 18th: Race 1 will start at 9:55 AM while the green light for Race 2 will be at 3:15 PM. Both races will be live streamed on the Solaris Motorsport web site.
