Solaris Motorsport withstands in Germany with Sini that reduces the gap from the top of the standings

Sachsenring (Germany) – Under the storm of Sachsenring, Solaris Motorsport scores two excellent finishes for both Francesco Sini and Giovanni Berton finishing first and second among the two wheel drive cars. The tricky German round has allowed to the Camaro driver to reduce the gap from the top of the standings, with 5 points recovered and 32 to be still assigned. Great debut for Giovanni Berton behind the wheel of Lumina. The Italian driver was already very fast from the first free practices and made such a good job for the team.

The heavy rain fell during the weekend let AWD Audis have a huge advantage on track, so Solaris’ boys could only take the lead among the rear wheel drive drivers. Sini and Berton used the free practices for learning the track better and the cars behavior, improving their times lap by lap. With a qualifying session held with an half dry and an half wet track, the Chevrolets got a brilliant second row: the Camaro scored the third time, just ahead of the Lumina of Giovanni Berton who got a fantastic fourth at his first race with the powerfully American sedan.

Unfortunately the race was held on an flooded track under an heavy rain. It was impossible to challenge the Audis with this conditions, so, once again, the Solaris drivers scored an one-two among the two wheel drive cars, with the Sini’s Camaro fourth and the Berton’s Lumina fifth. Just a little bit of disappointment for Ringhio for a contact with Dionisio that happened when they were fighting for the third position. An avoidable crash that did risk both to end the race with a DNF.

I don’t think we could do more, on the wet the Audi has a decisive advantage, but anyway i could have finished third… However, the most important thing is to get this race over and scoring a lot of points for the championship. – said Francesco Sini – I’m very happy because the Camaro was very fast and very stable also on wet conditions. This is the result of a good effort made by the team during the season, we were the fastest 2WD in qualifying and in the race! As I expected, Giovanni was very fast, very intelligent and a perfect team mate. Apart from the weather, it was fantastic racing here with all this fans. They filled up the grandstands and the paddock despite the rain and the cold weather. It was amazing! In Hockenheim we’ll have no ballast, the perfect condition to set a full attack for the title!

I’m very happy to be back in the EuroV8 Series. – commented Giovanni Berton, at the debut at this track on the Solaris Motorsport Lumina – I did find early the right feeling with the track and the car. I like a lot this the team, it’s professional and the guys were able to find the right way to all my setup requests. The rain was a pity, because with the dry track we could look forward to the podium. I was pleased to give my support to Francesco’s title battle and I hope to have another chance with them. I want to thank Team Dinamic letting me be here now.

Roberto Sini, Solaris Motorsport Team Principal, is satisfied about the results of the German race: “This guys made an incredible job, our cars were the fastest among the 2WD during the qualifying and the race. I can not ask more them today. Both the drivers made an excellent race and furthermore with this rain was very easy to crash or aquaplaning and they crossed the finish line only behind the Audis. Francesco is now closer to the top of the standings and he will race in Hockenheim without ballast, while Giovanni shown to be fast and intelligent. Now we are focused on the last race of the season and if needed, we’ll give the150%!

The finalEuroV8 Series race is scheduled on October 4th and 5th again in Germany, in the F1 track Hockenheim. Just 15 days to know who’s going to be the 2014 EuroV8 Series champion.
