Solaris Motorsport debuts in the International GT Open with the Corvette Z06R

Pescara, Italy – Solaris Motorsport will race in 2015 in the International GT Open with a Chevrolet Corvette Z06R for the reigning EuroV8 Series Champion Francesco Sini and the expert GT driver Stefano Costantini. After the winning debut in the GT world during the last race of Italian GT championship with the SaReNi Camaro GT3, the Notaresco-based team decided to take part of one of the most important international series, choosing an european tournament in order to grow up and gain experience for being competitive in the most prestigious world GT races in a near future. The couple of drivers chosen by Solaris are young, close knit and fast in order to storm the GTS class.

After the victory of the 2014 EuroV8 Series title I wanted to try out myself in a new demanding challenge. I’m excited to hit the track with my new opponents, it’s a big step for me but it’s a very important moment for the whole the team too. – said Francesco Sini – I’m very happy to share the Corvette cockpit with Stefano, his experience with this kind of car will help all of us to to grow up more quickly.
2007 Italian Prototype Champion and winner of the European Radical Master Series in the following year – with the success in the Radical World Cup in the middle – this is a comeback into endurance for Ringhio, in the the racing world where he was the protagonist before his landing in Superstars: “Yes, it’s a comeback to the origins for me, to the races where I started my career after karting and where I grew up as a driver. For sure, GT cars are very different from sportscars I drove in the past, but I’m sure that the experience will help me a lot this season, mainly in how to approach a race.

GT Open veteran Stefano Costantini will share the Corvette Z06R cockpit with Sini. Under25 5Hundred Cup Champion at the debut, the Italian driver was protagonist in the Seat Leon Supercopa Italia, where he was two times runner up in both of the two years he raced. After two formative seasons in the Porsche Carrera Cup, Costantini in the 2013 chose the International GT Open, where he got early important results. His increasing performances gave him one victory and four podiums in the 5 races he competed in the 2014. “I want to reconfirm last year’s good performances! I tried the car during the test sessions and I’m confident we have the right potential. Francesco showed what he can do in these years and I don’t think I have to tell who he is. The team is at its rookie year, but the guys work hard, we have some things to fix for sure, but we have all we need to.” Costantini has a right target for this season: “I want continuity, I was often fast until now but for different reasons I couldn’t keep up my performances. If this year we will be good and competitive in each race, the final spot in standings can be very interesting.

After the triumphal 2014 season, a very demanding year with a project totally new waits Solaris Motorsport. Roberto Sini, team owner, pushes his guys: “Last year we showed our value, we won the EuroV8 Series with Francesco and we gave to SaReNi Camaro GT3 its first historical victory in Europe, at our debut in GT races. This season will be very long and tricky for us, probably we will have some difficulties and we will have to learn a lot of things, but with the right spirit we can reach every goal.

A curiosity: the two 2015 Solaris Motorsport drivers splitted wins in the last Italian GT championship round in Monza in previous October. Both on the italian track for a test race, Costantini won the Saturday Race, Sini Sunday’s one.

The International GT Open is an GT3 european championship with seven rounds around the most important tracks of the continent. The series will take place in Paul Ricard, Estoril, Silverstone, Red Bull Ring, Spa, Monza e Barcellona between April and November.

With this occasion, Solaris Motorsport invites all the fans to interact and follow the team on its official channels: Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, and the official website www.solarismotorsport.com where everyone can find all the news about the squad and the drivers.
