Imola unlucky for team Solaris
The Imola weekend was not very lucky for the Italian team. The Chevrolet Lumina joined the second round of Superstars Series after the excellent third place in the opening round at Monza.
Started from the third row of the grid Francesco Sini was able to catch a good fourth place in race 1 after a thrilling duel with former Formula 1 driver Tonio Liuzzi. Due to the inversion of the first 8, the driver from Abruzzo started in fifth position at the start of race 2 ready to place the final podium, just like at Monza. The opening laps were exciting with a series of exciting overtaking maneuvers to Fittipaldi, Liuzzi, and Gabellini taking a few laps behind the leader. Just when attaching the first place, a little inconvenience to the water pump belt, has frustrated all efforts at forcing a unlucky withdrawal. A lot of bitterness and disappointment for what could be the first superstars team victory; anyway the appointment is only sent to the third round of the championship at Donington on May 20.
